Queens Diamond Jubilee Thames Pageant

Today Sunday 3 June 2012 saw over a thousand boats, vessels, flotilla of tugs, steamers, pleasure cruisers, dragon boats, kayaks and ships join the Queens barge on the Thames to celebrate the Queens Diamond Jubilee in the Thames Pageant.

The Queens Jubilee Pageant was the London highlight of the Jubilee weekend celebrating 60 years of the Queen's reign, it was one of the largest flotillas ever to assemble on the River Thames as registered by the Guinness Book of Records.
The Pageant involved vessels from the armed forces, police, rescue and other services as well as passenger boats with members of the public joining in the festivities.

There was a specially constructed boat with a belfry with 8 specially cast Jubilee bells, the chiming bells from the boat were answered by churches along the river bank and 10 musical barges to keep a party atmosphere with choirs and orchestras.
